207. 失之東隅,收之桑榆。
[誤] Lose where the sun rises and gain where the sun sets.
[正] What one loses on the swings, he gets back on the roundabouts.
注:第一句雖然將原文的意思忠實地表達了出來,但英國人仍然難以體會中文“日出之處日落之時”的內涵。因此,借用地道的英語說法纔是最明智的選擇。swings 是“鞦韆”,roundabouts 是“旋轉木馬”。swings and roundabouts 在英語中就表示“有得有失”。“失之東隅,收之桑榆”還可以直接用 It's all swings and undabouts 來表達。
