財政部在香港成功發行20億美元主權債券

China issued 2 billion dollars worth of dollar-denominated sovereign bonds in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

近日，我國在香港特別行政區發行了20億美元主權債券。

The sovereign bonds include 1 billion dollars in five-year bonds and 1 billion dollars in 10-year bonds.

此次20億美元主權債券分爲5年期和10年期各10億美元。

Raising funds was not the main purpose of this issuance, but it will help guide markets and evaluate prospects in the future, said Wang Yi, director of the finance department of the Ministry of Finance.

財政部金融司司長王毅日前表示，融資不是此次發債的主要目的，但這次發債有助於引導市場、評估未來。

Backed by sustained economic growth and ample foreign exchange reserves, the government does not have strong needs for external financing, the ministry said on its website.

財政部在其官網上表示，依靠持續的經濟增長和充足的外匯儲備，中國政府對外部融資並沒有很強的需求。

The debt issuance will help internationalize the country's financial system, set up a pricing benchmark for its foreign currency-denominated bonds, help international investors better understand the economy, and balance the structure of its external debts.

此次債券發行將有助於我國金融體系的國際化，爲外幣計價債券建立一種計價基準，幫助國際投資者更好地瞭解經濟，並平衡其外債結構。

The previous such sales were made in October 2004, when the country raised a total of 1.7 billion dollars by issuing dollar- and euro-denominated bonds with maturities of five and 10 years.

我國上一次發行主權債券是在2004年10月，當時我國發行了5年期和10年期美元和歐元債券，籌資總額爲17億美元。
