Notes: Katie不懂事的兒子口出狂言，說他老媽只是個家庭主婦，什麼都不懂。這下可算是激怒了Katie，她立刻停車展現了一個負責任的媽媽該有的氣勢和態度。短語“pull over”的含義是“靠邊停車，把……開到路邊”。“for your information”表示“爲你提供訊息，供你參考”，用在這個語境中可以理解爲“我告訴你”。“pretty”這個單詞在這裏可不是形容詞“漂亮的”，而是充當副詞“很，相當”。“crappy”用在口語中表示貶義的“不好，差勁”。例如：
He pulled over and went to the convenience store.
他靠邊停車，去了便利店。
This brochure is just for your information.
這個小冊子只是爲你提供些信息。
Let’s get some cool drinks. It’s pretty hot outside.

2. If you keep doing whatever it takes to get rich, this is where you’re going to wind up.
如果你再這樣不擇手段地只想發財，這就是你以後的下場。
Notes: 爲了給自己逃避慈善，總是財迷的兒子長點記性，Katie選擇讓他在路邊義務勞動，撿垃圾。“wind up”在這裏的意義是“結束”，這個短語如果後面要接名詞性的賓語，通常會加上“with”,即“wind up with”.例如：
She is persuading his son to be a nice man in case he would wind up in prison.
他勸兒子做個好人，以免落個身陷囹圄的下場。
Living with my friends who love sports, I wind up with similar exercise habits.

3. Oliver, I don’t care what anyone else says, she’s not out of your league.

Notes：“League”作爲名詞表示“聯盟，社團”。“out of your league”字面理解是“不和你在一個社團裏”，引申爲“自不量力，配不上”。同樣的意義，換個角度，我們也可以說“out of my league”，此外，這個短語還可表示“做不到某事，做某事很困難”。例如：
Don’t be silly. She’s out of your league.
別傻了！你可配不上她。
Learning languages is easy but maths is out of my league.
學語言對我來說很簡單，但數學可就不行了。
l her flags and knock her out of the race.
偷走她的旗子，讓她出局。
Notes：“knock somebody out of something”在這裏的意思是“讓某人出局，淘汰某人”。例如：
I will knock you out of the running no matter what it takes.

5. Why are you so obsessed with Viv?

Notes: 短語“be obsessed with”的含義是“癡迷於……”，用在這裏是因爲Katie爲了女兒總是和Viv較勁。例如：
My daughter is obsessed with reading these days.
我女兒這些天着了迷似的閱讀。
Please do not be obsessed with that guy. He’s such a mean person.
