A man was driving along a rural road one day when he saw a three legged chicken. He was amused engough to drive along side it for a while, as he was driving he noticed the chicken was running 30 mph.
有一天，有個人在鄉間小路上開着車，看到一直三條腿的雞。他覺得很好玩，跟在它旁邊開了一陣子的車，而且注意到那隻雞奔跑的速度是每小時30英里。
"Pretty fast chicken," he thought,"I wonder just how fast it can run."
“好快的雞啊，”他心想：“不曉得它到底可以跑多快。”
So he sped up and the chicken did too!They were now moving along the road at 45 mph!
於是他加速前進，結果那隻雞也跟着越跑越快!目前飛速度是每小時45英里!
The man in the car sped up again, to his surprise the chicken was still running ahead of him at 60 mph!
開車那個人再度加速，令他吃驚的是，那隻雞卻以時速60英里的速度跑在他前面!!
Suddenly the chicken turned off the road and run down a long driveway leading to a farmhouse.
突然間那隻雞從路上轉了個彎，跑上一條長長的通往農舍的停車道。
The man followed the chicken to the house and saw a man in the yard and dozens of three legged chickens.
那個人跟着來到農舍前，看到院子裏有個人，還有很多隻三條腿的雞。
The man in the car called out to the farmer "How did you get all these three legged chickens?"
開車那個人向農夫大喊道：“那麼多三條腿的雞哪來的啊?”
The farmer replied,"I breed them. You see, me, my wife and my son live here and we all like to eat the chicken legs."
農夫回答:“我養的。我和老婆小孩住在這裏，大家都愛吃雞腿。”
"Since a chicken only have two legs, I started breeding this three legged variety so we could all eat our favorite piece."
“可是一隻雞隻有兩條腿，我就養起這種三條腿的變種雞，這樣大家都愛吃的雞腿就不怕不夠了。”
"That's amazing!"said the driver."How do they taste?"
“太驚人了!”司機說：“那這種雞腿味道如何?”
"Don't know, can't catch them."
“還不知道，因爲一直抓不到它們。”
簡單的四年級英語故事：兩個農夫A Texan farmer goes into Australia for a e he meets an Aussie farmer and gets talking.
有個德州農夫去澳洲度假時遇見一個澳洲農夫，兩人攀談了起來。
The Aussie shows off his big wheat field and theTexan says,"Oh! We have wheat fields that are atleast twice as large."
那個澳洲人像他炫耀他那一大片小麥田，結果德州農夫說：“哎呀!我們那裏的小麥田起碼比你的大兩倍。”
Then they walk around the ranch a little, and the Aussie shows off his herd of cattle. TheTexan immediately says,
接着他們又逛了一下農場，澳洲人又炫耀起他的牛羣，德州人馬上說：
"We have longhorns that are at least twice as large as your cows."
“我們那裏的長牛角起碼比你的牛大兩倍。”
The conversation has, meanwhile, almost died when the Texan sees a herd of kangarooshopping through the field. He asks,"And what are those?"
說着說着，德州人看到一羣袋鼠在農場上跳來跳去，一時不知道講什麼，於是問道：“那些是什麼東西?”
The Aussie replies with an incredulous look,"Don't you have any grasshoppers in Taxas?"
澳洲人一副難以置信的表情，回答道：“怎麼，你們德州都沒有蚱蜢嗎?”

英國人、法國人和俄國人一起看着一幅亞當和夏娃在伊甸園裏嬉戲的畫。
"Look at their reserve, their calm,"muses theBrit."They must be British."
“看看他們的含蓄和沉靜，”英國人若有所思地說：“他們一定是英國人。”
"Nonsense,"the Frenchman diaagrees. "They're naked, and so beautiful. Clearly,they areFrench."
“胡說，”法國人不贊成：“他們不僅裸體，而且長得很美，無疑是法國人。”
"No clothes, no shelter," the Russian pionts out,"They have only an apple to eat, and they'rebeing told this is paradise. Certainly, they are Russian."
“沒有衣服穿，也沒有地方住，”俄國人指出：“只有一顆蘋果可以吃，卻有人告訴他們那裏是天堂。很顯然，他們是俄國人。”
