巴布亞新幾內亞將關閉澳拘留中心

Papua New Guinea says it will close adetention center for asylum seekers on its northern island of Manus.

巴布亞新幾內亞說，將關閉北部馬努斯島的尋求避難者拘留中心。

Prime Minister Peter O'Neill announced thecenter's closure in a statement Wednesday, one day after the Pacific island'sSupreme Court ruled that Australia's detention of more than 800 asylum seekersat the Manus camp is unconstitutional.

巴布亞新幾內亞總理奧尼爾星期三發表聲明，宣佈關閉這一拘留中心。一天前，這個太平洋島國的最高法院判定，馬努斯島拘留中心違憲。目前，這個澳大利亞拘留中心裏有800多名尋求避難者。

O'Neill said any of the detaineesconsidered to be "legitimate refugees" are welcome to remain in PapuaNew Guinea if they wish "to be a part of our society and make acontribution to our community."

奧尼爾說，被視爲“合法難民”的被拘留者如願意“成爲我們社會的組成部分併爲其做貢獻”，就歡迎他們留在巴布亞新幾內亞。

Australian Immigration Minister PeterDutton said Tuesday that none of the detainees at the Manus facility will beresettled in Australia -- they must either return to their home country orsettle in a third country.
