臺灣影片無緣奧斯卡最佳外語片

East Asia's cinephiles won't have a local favorite to cheer during this year's foreign-language Academy Awards race after the Taiwan epic "Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale" failed to be nominated for best foreign-language film on Tuesday. Last week, the 4-1/2-hour film — based on the true story of Taiwan's indigenous Seediq tribes who launched an armed uprising against Japanese rule in 1930 — was among nine films short-listed for the foreign-language category.

由於臺灣影片《賽德克·巴萊》(Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale)本週二未入圍奧斯卡最佳外語片獎終選名單，東亞的影迷在今年的最佳外語片獎角逐中就失去了爲本地影片加油喝彩的機會了。上週，這部長達四個半小時的史詩巨片成爲入圍奧斯卡最佳外語片獎初選名單的九部影片之一，該影片以1930年臺灣當地賽德克族發動反對日本殖民統治的武裝起義的真實故事爲藍本。

"Seediq Bale," from director Wei Te-sheng , was the only film from the region to make the short list. Another high-profile blockbuster, mainland China's "The Flowers of War" from director Zhang Yimou and starring Christian Bale didn't make the short list. But "Seediq Bale" and 'The Flowers of War' will compete at the Asian Film Awards in March, when both are up for best film and other nominations.

魏德聖(Wei Te-sheng)執導的《賽德克·巴萊》是唯一一部入圍今年奧斯卡最佳外語片獎的初選名單的東亞電影。另外一部高調參選的大片、由中國大陸選送的《金陵十三釵》(The Flowers of War)未能入圍，該片的導演是張藝謀，由克里斯蒂安·貝爾（Christian Bale）擔綱主演。不過，《賽德克·巴萊》和《金陵十三釵》將在今年3月爭奪亞洲電影大獎(Asian Film Awards)，這兩部影片都獲得了包括最佳影片在內的多項提名。

The failure of Taiwan to garner a nomination means that it's been more than a decade since it has been in the running for a foreign-language Oscar, despite the resurgence of its film industry in recent years.

臺灣影片未獲提名意味着該地區已經有10多年的時間沒有電影獲得奧斯卡最佳外語片獎了，儘管該近些年該地區的電影工業出現了復興態勢。
