The first formal Chinese garden in the English city ofCambridge was officially open during the fourth-annual Cambridge Xu Zhimo Poetry and Art Festival.

第四屆年度劍橋徐志摩詩歌藝術節近日舉行,英國劍橋市首座百分百的中式花園在藝術節期間正式對外開放。

The China-UK Friendship Garden, which is alsoknown as Xu Zhimo Garden, memorializes the lateChinese poet Xu Zhimo, who was an associatemember of King's College in 1921-22.

中英友誼花園(暨徐志摩花園)是爲了紀念已故中國詩人徐志摩。1921-22年期間,徐志摩以特別生的身份就讀於國王學院。

Xu wrote the famous poem, Second Farewell to Cambridge, in 1928, after his third visit to thecity.

1928年,在第三次造訪劍橋市後,徐志摩寫下了名詩《再別康橋》。

Filled with his longing for Cambridge, as well as thoughts about his first love affair, the poemhas been learned by millions of schoolchildren in China.

詩中飽含他對劍橋的思念以及對自己第一段戀情的感想,中國千萬學子都學過這首詩。

The poem's first and last lines have been carved into a granite stone that has become one ofCambridge's most popular tourist attractions.

The idea to create the memorial garden was first developed by Steven Coghill, the seniorhorticulturist at King's College. The garden took three years to plan and build.

The garden features many plants that grow naturally in Xu's home province of Zhejiang. It alsocontains plants sourced from neighboring provinces.

The New York University School of Medicine willprovide free tuition for all present and futurestudents, the university announced.
