A man from the city was driving down a country roadwhen his car stalled near a cow field.
有個城市來的人開着車徜徉在鄉間小路上，經過一座母牛場的車子卻拋錨了。
The driver, getting out to see what was the matter,noticed one of the cows looking at him. "I believe it'syour radiator," said the cow.
司機下車查看哪裏出問題時，注意到有隻母牛在看着他。“我想問題出在散熱器。”那隻母牛說道。
The man nearly jumped right out of his city slicker britches! He ran to a farm house andknocked on the door. "A cow just gave me advice about my car!" he shouted.
這個人差點沒從身上穿的那件時髦馬褲中跳出來!他跑向農舍，邊敲門邊大喊着：“有隻母牛剛指點我車子哪裏出故障!”
The farmer nonchalantly learned out beyond the doorframe to glance down the field. "The cowwith big black spots on it?" the farmer asked slowly.
農夫冷冷地靠在門框後，把農場打量了一遍。"是那隻身上有兩個大黑斑的母牛嗎?"農夫慢悠悠問道。
"Yes! Yes! That's the one!" the excited man replied.
“沒錯!沒錯!就是那隻!”激動的男子回答道。
"Oh, Well. That's Ethel." the farmer said, turning back to the man. "Don't pay any attention toher. She doesn't know a thing about cars."
“哎呀，那是艾瑟兒啦，”農夫轉頭對那人說道：“不要理她，她對車子根本一竅不通。”
適合小學生的英語故事短文：我沒事!Farmer John was suing a trucking company forinjuries sustained in an accident. The company'slawyer was questioning John.
農夫約翰因爲意外事故受傷而控告一家貨運公司，該公司律師正在質問約翰。
"Didn't you say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'mfine?'" said the lawyer.
“你在車禍現場是不是說過‘我沒事’?”律師說道。
Farmer John responded, "Well, I'll tell you what happened. I had just loaded my favorite muleBessie into the..."
農夫約翰回答：“這個嘛，事情是這樣的。那時我剛把我心愛的騾子貝西裝進...”
The lawyer interrupted again and said, "Judge, I am trying to establish the fact that, at thescene of the accident, this man told the police officer that he was just fine.
律師打斷說：“法官大人，我只是想證明一件事情，就是這個人曾在車禍現場告訴警察他沒事。”
"Now several weeks later, he is suing my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simplyanswer the question."
“現在幾個月過去了，他卻控告我的當事人，我認爲有詐騙的嫌疑。請法官叫原告直接回答問題。”
But the Judge was interested in Farmer John's story and said, "I'd like to hear what he has tosay about his mule Bessie."
不過法官對農夫的說辭很感興趣，於是說：“我想聽聽他對騾子貝西怎麼說。”
John proceeded, "Well as I was saying, I had just loaded Bessie, my favorite mule, into thetrailer and was driving her down the highway when this huge semi-truck and trailer ran the stopsign and smacked my truck right in the side."
約翰繼續說道：“是這樣的。正如我剛纔所說，我把我心愛的騾子貝西裝進拖車後，這輛大型半掛車便拉着拖車在公路上行駛，結果它闖過停車標誌，我的拖車就這樣啪的一聲被它甩到一邊。”
"I was thrown into one ditch and Bessie was thrown into the other. I was hurting and didn'twant to move. However, I could hear old Bessie moaning and groaning. I knew she was hurt."
“我摔進一條小水溝，貝西則摔倒另一條。雖然我當時因爲受傷不太能動，但卻聽到老貝西的嗚咽哀鳴聲，我知道它受傷了。”
"After the accident a police officer arrived. He could hear Bessie moaning and groaning. So hewent over to her. After he looked at her, he took out his gun and shot her between the he came across the road with his gun in his hand and looked at me."
“發生車禍後，警察就來了。他聽到貝西的呻吟聲後便過去看看它怎麼樣，結果看了以後便掏出槍，超貝西兩眼中間開了一槍把它給斃了。接着他拿着槍，到馬路另一邊來看我。”
"He remarked, 'Your mule was in such bad shape I had to shoot her. How are you feeling?'"
“他說：‘你的騾子傷得很嚴重，我不得不開槍了結它。你還好嗎?’”

The man looked at his photo for a moment and saidto the clerk," I was standing in line so long, I endedup looking pretty grouchy in this picture."

The clerk looked at his picture closely, and smiled, "It's okay. That's how you're going to lookwhen the cops pull you over anyway."
