北京外國語大學增11個小語種專業 旨在服務'一帶一路'建設

Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) will add 11 language courses, mostly African and Oceanianic tongues, to boost talent support for the country's extending ties with the regions, a school official said last Wednesday.

北京外國語大學一名負責人上週三表示，北外將增設11門語言課程，主要是非洲和大洋洲語言，旨在爲我國與這些地區發展關係提供更多人才支持。

BFSU will offer Kurdish, Maori, Tongan, Samoan, Comorian, Tswana, Ndebele, Creole, Shona, Tigrinya and Byelorussian majors to undergraduates from September.

9月起，北外將開設庫爾德語、毛利語、湯加語、薩摩亞語、科摩羅語、茨瓦納語、恩德貝萊語、克里奧耳語、紹納語、提格雷尼亞語和白俄羅斯語等本科專業。

The languages are mainly used in West Asia, Oceania, the Caribbean, Africa, and East Europe, regions sharing closer ties with China under the Belt and Road Initiative.

這些語言主要在西亞、大洋洲、加勒比海地區、非洲和東歐地區使用。在“一帶一路”倡議的背景下，這些地區與我國的聯繫將更緊密。

"Chinese proficient in local languages and cultures are lacking in some participating countries of the Belt and Road Initiative," said Guo Wei, an official in the publicity department of BFSU.

北京外國語大學宣傳部門一位名叫郭偉的官員表示：“現在我國缺少精通'一帶一路'諸國當地語言和文化的人才。”

"The university is helping to equip more students with language skills and knowledge of the regional affairs to meet the demand."

“我們學校正在幫助更多的學生掌握語言技能和地區事務的知識，以此來滿足需求。”

The university will set up more language majors, especially those used by countries along the Belt and Road, Guo said.

郭偉稱，該校將會開設更多的外語語種專業，尤其是那些在“一帶一路”沿線的國家的語言。

BFSU now has 84 language majors and plans to increase it to more than 100 in 2020, covering all countries that have diplomatic relations with China.

北京外國語大學現在共有84個外語語種專業，並計劃在2020年增加到超過100個，覆蓋所有與中國有外交關係的國家。
