Juices

果汁

As painful as it is to throw away something when you haven’t even opened it, especially when it’s pricey, you should always throw away raw, cold pressed juices if they’ve expired. Fresh juices should only be consumed two to five days after they’ve been made. Raw, cold pressed juices are unpasteurized and far more prone to contamination by bacteria or yeast.

扔掉一些你尚未打開的食物總是讓人心疼捨不得,尤其是高價購買的那些食物,但你一定要扔掉過期的原生態冷榨果汁。鮮榨果汁宜在兩到五天內食用。原生態冷榨果汁未經殺菌,更易被細菌或酵母感染。

Raspberries

Raspberries are rich in fiber and antioxidants but they can carry a parasite called cyclospora which causes diarrhea, vomiting, bloating and flu-like symptoms. That’s why it’s always important to wash raspberries before eating them and never eat them after their expiry.

樹莓富含纖維和抗氧化劑,但也含有一種叫做環孢子蟲的寄生蟲,會引起腹瀉、嘔吐、腹脹和流感等症狀。因此吃樹莓之前將其清洗乾淨是十分重要的,過期後也一定要扔掉。

Greens

Pre-made salads, bagged leafy greens can carry E. coli. Leafy greens are often pre-washed multiple times but because they’re handled so frequently they are prone to getting bacteria.

Strawberries

To keep strawberries fresh they must be kept in the fridge. They last up to three days in the fridge or longer if kept in the freezer. They are susceptible to becoming a hotbed for bacteria, especially if they’re exposed to heat.

必須將草莓置於冰箱才能保鮮。放在冰箱可保鮮3天,如果放在冷櫃裏則可保鮮更久。草莓極易成爲細菌的溫牀,置於高溫下更是如此。

Spinach

菠菜

Spinach leaves left past their use-by date are very unappetizing. They can go bad quickly, especially if wet. They wilt and can even become slimy. To prolong their lifespan they should only be rinsed and dried before they’re used.

菠菜葉極易過期,這一點很不討喜。它們很快就會變質,潮溼的時候更是如此。它們會枯萎,甚至變得黏糊糊的。想要延長菠菜的保質期,就必須在使用前將其洗淨、烘乾。

Blueberries

藍莓

When left past their use-by date blueberries can grow a fury mold and become brown and soft. They are best kept in the fridge and eaten within five to ten days of purchase. They can also be frozen and can last in the freezer up to eight months.

過了保質期的藍莓會發黴變軟、呈棕色。最好放在冰箱內保存,購買後5—10內吃完最佳。藍莓也可冷凍,可放置8個月之久。

Avocado

牛油果

Slicing into an avocado and exposing it to oxygen is what makes it turn brown and inedible. The discoloration can be reduced by rubbing olive oil on it which makes it last longer. Sometimes avocados can go bad within hours. They should be stored in the fridge in a sealed container.

將牛油果切開暴露在空氣中與氧氣接觸會使其變成棕色、十分難吃。可以在牛油果上抹橄欖油減少變色、延長其保鮮時間。有時候,幾個小時內牛油果就會變質。應該將牛油果放在密封容器中,然後置於冰箱內保存。
