Northeast China Plain, one of the three major plains in China, is also the largest plain in China. Located in northeastern China, the plain spans four provinces: Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning and Inner Mongolia, and lies between the Greater and Lesser Hinggan and Changbai mountains. It is about 1,000 km long from north to south and 400 km wide from east to west, covering an area of 350,000 square kilometers.  Northeast China Plain boasts fertile soil and it has developed into one of the major grain bases in China.
