【內容簡介】

故事講述了在未來的芝加哥，人們被分成五大派別，分別是：誠實（Candor）、博學(Erudite)、友好（Amity）、無畏（Dauntless）、無私（Abnegation）。每一個孩子在16歲的時候都要選擇一個派別加入，並經受考驗。女主角特麗絲（Beatrice “Tris” Prior）正面臨這樣的選擇，然而她與別人不同，“能力傾向測試”顯示她同時具備無畏、無私、博學三種特質，是一個罕見的“分歧者”。一方面牽掛家人、一方面又有自己主見的碧翠絲做出令人驚訝的選擇。同時，她的特殊身份早已引來各派人物的關注；表面和平的城市下，一個個危險的陰謀正在醞釀着，特麗絲接下來的選擇，不但決定了她的存亡，更關聯着無數的生命 。
