實用英語的英語表達

人生的坎坷，這不算什麼，以後的日子，我要努力奮鬥，有很多同學都覺得英語口語成績很難提高，其實不用緊張，只要我們肯努力，肯定可以的。

1. I feel it in my bones. 我非常確定。

I feel it in my bones.是「我非常確定」的意思。

A: How do you know you're going to win?

你怎麼知道你會贏?

B: I feel it in my bones.

我就是確定。

2. squeak by...　勉強通過……

squeak by的原意是「僥倖通過」，用在形容考試，表示雖然通過考試，但分數也不高。

例如:某科你只拿到六十分，就可以說squeak by with asixty.

A: I wonder if I got an A on the exam.

我在想，不知道我這科考試能不能得A。

B: I'm just hoping I squeaked by with a C.

我只希望我能拿個C低空飛過就行了。

3. wipe someone out　讓某人一蹶不振

wipe out 原意是「銷燬，徹底毀滅」，不過最常見的用法是指「讓某人散盡錢財、一蹶不振

如：The bad economics wiped him out.經濟不景氣讓他破產了。

A: How are your stocks doing?

你的股票最近如何?

B: Not good. I got wiped out in the crash last year.

不好。我在去年不景氣時破產了。

get up the nerve

1：I'm trying to get up the nerve to walk in and tellmy boss I want a 20% raise

我打算鼓起勇氣到老闆的辦公室去，告訴他我想加薪百分之二十

有時候人們用work代替get，成爲

work up the nerve

I've been trying to work up the nerve to ask her tomarry me, but I'm afraid all she'll do is laugh.

我一直想鼓起勇氣開口向她求婚，但我老覺得難以啓齒，因爲我怕她會一笑了之。

我們再來學個習慣用語: have got a lot of nerve。在這個習慣用語裏，nerve不再解釋爲“神經”或者“勇氣”，而是“魯莽”。

You've really got a lot of nerve telling me I spend too much money! Remember, youare the one who goes up to New York every month and brings back a thousanddollars worth of stuff.

你也好意思說我花錢太多?你每個月都得去一次紐約，而且每次總要買一千多美元的東西!

Of all the nerve! How dare you criticize me for being late in the morning. You're theone who sneak out half an hour early - at least I work a full eight hours every day!
